I had a 73 with a 454. When I got the truck the stock Q-jet carb was shot. So, I bought a 650 Eddy and ran it for a while. Gas mileage went to crap, but the truck ran great. Then I got a reman 650 Q-jet and ran it till I sold the truck. it didn't preform quite as well as the Eddy, but I got a little better mileage. Not that any 454 get good mileage anyway.
My point is: The two carbs are so close, IMO, that it's really 6's as to which one to go with. Eddy = a "Little" better proformance. The Q-Jet = a "Little" better gas mileage.

IMO, i hate eddies, Im a holley/Q-jet kinda guy. If you setup a q-jet right, it will out perform an eddie. Go Q-jet imo.

If it runs well then just leave it alone, IMHO. Is there something you don't like about the carb?

All of my experience is with Q-Jets... But, I will say it all depends on how they're tuned. Either tuned correctly for the engine will run good, but the Q-Jets are known for better efficiency on the whole.

Qjet all day here... can't beat it for a dd. I bought an Eddie when I first built my engine. Ran it bout a year put a qjet on and roasted tires for the first time a straight 15 feet! And mileage went straight up

Sent from the dust in front of you!
