take it out and then turn it upside down and drain it.

If not drill a small hole in the bottom, then find a plugs to fit that hole later. I got a TC somewhere that has that done to it.

Just flip it over

It'll take a while to drain it all out

My pan gasket is showing early signs of leaking and I wanna switch to synthetic trany fluid. But no major leaks yet.

I figured out how to drain the torque convertor without removing the trany or using the special pump/machine.

Here's what you gotta do. Remove the return line from the cooler on the radiator and place it over a bucket. Then start the truck up and let it idle. Then when you start seeing air bubbles or foaming then its done emptying the trany fluid from trany. May need 2 more after it cycles through a couple of times.

sure if you want to risk it.

I'm too afraid to run my motor with trans empty.

Centrifugal force keeps the fluid in the converter don't it? I am afraid to touch my trans oil, I hear a lot of bad things happening if it's been in there a while and you put new fluid in it fuggs it up.

You dont run it dry. Say your doing a filter change and pan refill and all you need is 5 quarts to refill the pan. Then you mark a bucket at 4 quarts. Then when it reaches that 4 quarts STOP THE ENGINE and refill trany. Repeat til you done a couple more quarts than a pan refill.

Forgot to add also that to add your replacement fluids as it disposes the old in a bucket and keep the funnel full until you reach the mark on the bucket. This this for a complete fluid change or flush.
