So is the wobble telegramming from the water pump shaft? Any play in the water pump shaft is a finished pump.

Do you have clutch fan? Maybe the play is coming from that? Also replace...

If I'm reading this right, your water pump is getting ready to **** the bed.

@Gman73,

When you grab your fan, grab it with both hands and really give that thing a wiggle. Pull up and down on it to see if there is movement in the water pump shaft. If there is play in the shaft then, yeah replace the pump. I'm surprised it's not leaking from the seal by now. It must be full of rusty crud.

Most water pump seals are spring loaded. They allow for some bearing movement. In this case the seal itself is still good. The bearing is shot.

Yes, replace the pump.

I'm confused by a few things here. Your picture looks like you have an inline 6 fan on it. Also, that's a K20 front end, not a C20. With the pulley off of the pump, can you move the mounting plate and shaft easily? Is the pump actually the problem? A factory 350 in a K20 should have a 5-blade fan with a fan clutch. The pump should have studs on it and the pulley should be sandwiched between the clutch and the mounting plate on the pump.

I agree with you it’s a 350 I believe someone swapped the fan at some point every v8 I’ve ever owned had a 5 blade fan. And it is a CK 20 4sp sm465 and 205 transfer case. I’ll remove the pulley and see.

What is a CK 20? A C20 is a 2wd, a K20 is 4wd... there is no such thing as a CK, since it cant be 2wd and 4wd at the same time. Was it a C20 that has been converted to 4wd?

When you get that motor out if you are pulling it, Check all around the four bolts holding the freshly painted power steering unit. especially if the truck had non stock larger tires on it! This is what mine looked like!

I'd be careful of sandblasting with all the open port and hoses! That stuff gets everywhere doesn't matter how careful you are!!!

Sorry confusion on my part as the serial # starts with cky it’s definitely a k series 4wd 4 speed with a 205 transfer case 4.09 gears two owners and I spoke to the shop in Oregon that maintained it up until 2 years ago, the original owner was super meticulous from the notes in these that came with the truck
