IIRC, the 4.3 V6 design is just a Chevy V8 with two cylinders cut off, so it would have hydraulic lifters. Keeping the design similar to the SBC allowed GM to use a lot of SBC parts and accessories.

if you meant to ask roller cam vs flat tappet, i believe it was flat tappet AT LEAST until the other gm v6s went roller cam in the late 80s but It may honestly follow when the small block did because of the fact it would probably have same/similar parts

uh...

That doesnt seem like a natural extension of what has been discussed

if your engine has flat tappet, you would be wise to use something with a bit of zinc to a reasonable degree to prevent wear, dont go dumping in a bottle of additive tho because it would be promoting wear

I think the 1st solid lifter Chevy V8 was the "Fuelie" 283 in 1957 with the "o97: cam. Probably the most famous was the "30-30 Duntov" in the 60s 327. Then the Z/28s in the late 60s early 70s.

I think it went roller lifters in 88 or 89 according bro a video Square body Stuff on YouTube did on the 4.3 just a few weeks ago.

Edit: I changed my original post after reading the second response. I too confused roller and hydraulic lifers. So it had hydraulic lifters since it was designed but went to roller rockers in the late 80s like I mentioned above
