Do I pull engine or tranny?

Here's my dilemma. I keep going back and forth on whether to pull my engine or tranny to solve my problems, which are:

Leaking rear main
Leaking valve covers
Leaking oil pan
Bad clutch
Power steering leak

If I pull the engine, I can fix my clutch and have room to fix all the engine stuff outside the truck. Otherwise I can just pull the tranny and fix the leaks in place. What would you guys do?

Engine because fishing the oil pan in place while the engine is in the truck wouldn't be fun

Pull them both and clean up your frame while you're there.

The frame is pretty clean. I was trying to minimize the number of parts I have to remove to fix my problems. Removing both engine and tranny is not ideal

I'd pull trans. Much less work to pull. No exhaust to mess with, no real harness, radiator and fan and hoses....

All you'd pull is trans lines, bellhousing bolts and trans crossmember. Linkage. Driveshaft.

Yea but pulling oil pan off engine while its in the truck isn't imposible but wouldn't be easy especially going back in with sealant on it

That is one of my main concerns. I hate redoing a crappy gasket job because it didn't seal the first time

Honestly, it's going to be a ton easier to remove both at the same time. Pull the transfer case off of the back of the trans, and pull the engine and trans together. Oil pan is easier to get to, and you don't have to align a clutch, and then an entire trans while listing on your back.

I know the trans is short, but is it small enough to come out attached to that monster 350????

Neither of them are really very big.

Haha yeah that monster 350 part was a little sarcastic. I actually didn't think about leaving them attached. That might be the way to do it. I was a little concerned about aligning the clutch parts

I'd pull the motor, If it was me. More room to fix those leaking issues and have some elbow room.
