It's a super easy install. Are you familiar with pulling the carrier out of a 14 bolt?

The only real trick is the Detroit assembly is spring loaded so leave the assembly bolted together until you have it inside the reassembled carrier, then remove the bolt / all thread that holds the Detroit together.

I have not taken a 14 bolt carrier out before.

does the carrier get reinstalled before the locker bolt is taken out?

Prior to reinstalling the carrier back in the housing - once the carrier halves are bolted together (via ring gear bolts) then remove the Detroit retainer bolt.

The carrier has threaded adjusters in the housing outside of each carrier bearing, once you remove the retainer clips just MARK and count the number of turns it takes to release pressure and remove the carrier. Once you put it all back in just tighten the adjusters back the appropriate number of turns, install the retainers and you're good.

Don't forget to start with pulling the axle shafts out about 4"-5" to get them out of the carrier. Oil will spill.

Beware, the carrier assembly is HEAVY and will do it's best to mash fingers when it comes out!

Only other info I could add is to mark the bearing caps (side to side and up) and the diff case halves. It is a really easy job!
