I just want to share with this group a recent experience I had with LMC (Long Motor Corp).
About 1 year ago I had to replace the license plate lamp assembly on my '81 Stepside.
After 38+ years the old unit finally rusted out and was gonners. Ordered a replacement from LMC and all is good. During the most recent annual PA Vehicle Inspection the shop calls and tells me the truck won't pass inspection because the license plate light doesn't work and they can't replace the bulb because it's all corroded, can't get the bulb out without destroying the socket.
So I order another replacement unit, this time from Classic Parts of America. Part arrives, but the quality is really bad. Won't accept the original mounting bolts and is really cheap quality, just feels cheap, looks cheap, IS cheap, but hey, it gets me my inspection stickers and I'm good to go.
Sent an e-mail to LMC asking if there parts have any kind of warranty. Get a reply, telling me no, no warranty, BUT "We stand by our parts/products."
So I send another e-mail to LMC, explaining the license plate lamp assembly I bought from them about a year ago corroded and I can't even change the bulb, that the original GMC part lasted 38+ years and I fully expected a replacement part to last more than a year.
Got a second reply from LMC telling me they FULLY AGREED with me, and would send me a replacement lamp assembly AT NO CHARGE. Arrived today.
So I'm impressed with the customer service at LMC, maybe not so much with the quality of the parts, even less impressed with the quality of parts from Classic Industries of America.
Bottom line............"You Get What You Pay For".....................
I've read other posts on this forum and men saying problems with parts from LMC were dealt with fairly and without "hassle", so I say a big "Thumbs Up" to LMC.
Just my 2 cents....Nick, Harrisburg, PA
