Crossmember

Is this cross member formed/bent for exhaust clearance? If so, are they different on a dual exhaust? Kind of wondering if this is even necessary to be there or would it be in the way with a dual exhaust.

On a side note: does the bottom cross member do anything? Mine is bent - was very flimsy - cant find it now anyways. Going with a class 5 hitch so kind of thinking it might have had to be removed anyways.

I don't believe the crossmembers are different by much. Maybe year design changes, or c or k, or even 10 20 or 30's. Oh and don't forget about spare tire placement.

I don't think you'll have clearance issues with the front one, but it depends on what you want to do, and how far you want to tuck your exhaust.

But it does seem that the small rear one will need to come off for a hitch, but the hitch would be a better crossmember anyway lol.

I yanked em off and didn’t put em back on. Probably people out there will say it needs it for frame alignment. But a hitch would do that on the rear one and the front one I think is inboard enough to not be an issue.

That cross member is for the spare tire. The hanger pushes the spare up against that.

Mine was missing when I bought my truck, so I got a replacement. It has no impact on OEM dual exhaust, at least for K30's. I couldn't fit the factory spare tire holder with my receiver hitch and run the exhaust the way I wanted, so I used the support to hang the tailpipes.

That's for hanging a spare tire full of 'toy' to get into Canada.. Make sure it's filthy and muddy before you show up at the border.
