Converter Lockup?

On my 84 K10, I am having the 700R4 rebuilt and the mechanic asked me if I wanted to change the converter lockup to a one wire system. He says it is one wire that goes to a toggle switch on the dash and it will only lock up the converter in 4th gear (overdrive). Is this a good idea?
Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can't say on a 700R4, but the TH350C in Goldie has the TCC, and the PO had a toggle switch mounted in the dash to control it.

I turn it off in stop and go traffic.

It seems like the truck likes to get the lurches at slower speeds and light throttle otherwise.

If the computer is gone, and you don’t have a aftermarket controller, then a toggle switch is the only way to engage the converter. I’d go one step further and wire the clutch in they the brake switch, that way the converter unlocks when you touch the breaks.
