does anybody on here have a good fix for the GM 10 bolt axles clunking against the pin inside the differential, beside just turning the radio up!

I'm guessing you're talking about backlash? Rear differential? Going from park to drive or reverse with auto transmission? Idle too high?

If you are referring to lateral axle play related to them being a c clip axle, not that I know of. Half ton trucks still make that noise to this day…

when it's parked , grab the bedside and push it back and forth, click, click, end of axle shaft knocks against axle shaft retainer pin in rear end, maybe 1/8" play, sounds worse than it is

What I don't understand is how the axle slides in the outer wheel bearing?? isn't that a pressed fit?

He's talking about the rear axle. Outer wheel bearing is pressed into the axle tube, but the axle itself slides out freely once the c-clips are removed.

I've owned several GM's with 10 bolts, but have never noticed the clicking you described.

Yes this is true I have removed 3-4 of theses rear axles I wonder now how the bearing last when they aren't a presed fit?? I have heard that clunked before but was 40 years ago

My 2019 z71 1500 did the same thing. Noticed it if I didn’t approach speed bumps square because the truck would jiggle.

I could replicate the noise/click doing exactly what William has described.

Had a thread about it here a couple years ago, in fact. I believe Rusty tried to console me by comparing it to an AK…
