Thinking about replacing my oem orange valve covers with chrome. Searched here and found some members stating that some aftermarket covers do not fit. How would I be sure the ones I find will definitely fit before I order?

One issue i found is theyre too tall and hit my cruise vaccum thing. They tend not to seal well either.

Is the height the only fitment issue? IIRC, someone mentioned the length. Just not sure.

Are there some recommended brands, sites to look at?

You can get tall ones or shorter ones. I got the taller ones because they didn't interfere with anything on mine. I got mine off Amazon.

1958-86 Chevy Small Block... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ULTVRG?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Had no issues with this set. You can get just valve covers too. I opted for the dress up kit above.

I have found some similar to that set. I have a fill hole and vent hole on right side and pcv valve hole on left. That one shows one each side. I have found some that have correct holes but not sure if they will have problems fitting.

3 engines in 3 years. You should be able to swap a motor out in your sleep by now. Lol. I don't have cruise control on mine. I might have to adjust the vacume line to the trans tho.

Ever thought of just having your stock ones powder coated? Probably more expensive, but maybe worth it. A powder coater near me uses Prismatic Powders. This is Super Chrome. I'm going to use it on my custom built rear bumper.

We used to say "Chrome valve covers add 20 HP to a Chevy."

Personally, I'm not a fan of chrome, nor any name on the valve cover but the engine maker or the vehicle make.

To each his own, but there's a lot to be said for a clean set of painted covers.

Or, if you want to go dress-up get some black wrinkle paint and chrome cover screws. Or be a cheepskate like me and just paint the bolt heads to match the engine.
