Check engine light

Looking for advice, my 86 gmc sierra classic has had a check engine light coming on and off while driving? All gauges are good, nothing shows any indication of a problem. Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Short aldl terminals A and B with a piece of wire use wire not a paper Clip. Anyway your check engine light will flash a long flash then short flashes,kinda like Morse code or SOS signals. One long two short would be a code 12,which you are going to get. Write them all down then post them. I'll see if I can find an ALDL pic for you.
