Changing the stock manual to a car style four speed

Good Day folks; I have a 79 big ten custom , 350 4 speed and would like to know if anyone has replaced the original 4 speed to something like a muncie or Borg warner, saginaw car style stick? What all needs to be addressed in a swap such as this?

The SM465 uses a large bearing retainer with a matching larger register in the bellhousing. I'm not sure if there is a proper spacer available or if you are stuck swapping the bellhousing too.

If you have the sm465 now you have the best manual transmission out there. IMO

A car style bell housing for a muncie might not fit around a 12" flywheel/clutch that should be in front of the sm465.

Wouldnt the NV4500 be nicer to have because of the extra gear or is that an overall quality/simplicity/availability argument?
