Hey guys new here been slowly working on an 87 r10 that had a motor swap at one time. The engine suffix is v0122 xua any thoughts? I haven't had time to get to the casting number yet it's kinda hard to get to lol.

That suffix code isn't in the lime book. Is it a small block? Big Block? You are likely going to need a block casting number and casting date as well as the cylinder head casting numbers to make any determination of what you have. Pics are also helpful.

Yeah it's definitely a small block I was told it was a 350 so I have been buying 350 parts and they all fit lol. But it's an old service truck and the casting number seems to be just out of reach unless I pull the motor. Are there different suffix codes for crate motors? The RPO shows a 305 but previous owner said the engine was swapped with a 350 he was told it might have came out of a recreational vehicle or a short block.

Any external parts will be the same between a 350 and 305. The only difference will be bore size(which would show up with casting numbers on the block and heads). You should be able to spray some brake or carb cleaner down the back side of the drivers side head and shove your phone back there to snap a picture of the casting number. I would also suggest pulling the valve cover, it will make it easier to see back there and also you can then get a pic of the head casting number. Those will tell you what engine you have.

Snap a picture down the back side of the drivers side cylinder head and the passenger side cylinder head.

Get the valve cover off one side and get a casting number for the heads. Take an overall picture of the entire engine and engine bay.

As I said the only thing on the back right is the 5.7 stamp 5.7lg sgi. This is currently being driven daily I was just hoping to know if it was worth building. I was informed that the suffix is for gm replacement engines. But when I rip out the motor and refresh it I'll let you know what I find.

When I tear it out to put the 700r4 in it and do some other rebuild work I'll let you know.

It's not a stamped number it's a raised number casted in the block.
