C20 Long bed to short bed

What's up guys. Just picked up this big girl. I was going to use the Brothers long to short kit. In the instructions it says if the GVWR is 8200 or more the kit cant be used. Mine is 8400. Any idea why?

I think the crew cab 3/4 uses a 1 ton frame which is taller.

I have a c20 with 8600 gvwr and I am under the impression I can’t use the kit either. I am also wondering why if the frame is the same 1/2 to 3/4 ton.

The frames are not the same. There are posts on this forum that list the differences. I assume the >8200 is either taller or thicker and therefore the kit doesn't physically fit. Possibly 50% of the kit would work. You can still shorten your frame, you just have to do the legwork of measuring, cutting correctly, and reinforcing appropriately.

I personally considered using a C20 frame for my son's c10 build as it is stronger and has inherent less flex.
