Is there any threads on here to help build a rear end with changing gear ratio, or ring and pinion and installing a auburn gear locker. It is a 8.5" and 10 bolt in a 1983 C10. Do it need to get heavier bearing kit or can I just buy replacement bearings

I've done a couple threads on rebuilding axles here, they're probably buried to the last couple pages of the Differential and Driveline section, that's been a while. If you take it on you'll need some specialty tools, like a hydraulic press, caliper micrometer, dial indicator, inch/lb and ft/lb torque wrenches, 450 ft/lb air impact, pry bars, center punch, hammers, etc. As long as you got all the necessary tools, torque specs and know what backlash and preload you need to achieve it's really not that hard.
