There's a lot of opinions on electric fans, I hope you don't mind if I quiz you on it. Looking at your picture it looks like you have gone to a serp belt, I assume your running an upgraded alternator, for those of us that are still running factory do you know what the duel fans draw? Did you get an improvement in A/C at low speeds and idle?

I converted to a serp belt setup. It is so much cleaner and easy to maintain over v belts. I also have a Vintage Air surefit system. So the 134a system runs very cold. Those fans do draw a lot of current but, they move a tremendous amount of air. I upgraded to a 150 amp Power Master alternator. I am very impressed with PowerMaster brand-new top notch quality. I've done a lot of upgrades at once. The Pro-flo 4 efi is a dream. It maintaines a steady idle when the a/c and fans kick on. I can't imagine trying to do that with a carb.

It's hard to tell if we are looking at fluid or just residue left behind. However some global type / universal coolant is a light gold color and will look almost clear in a radiator or tank, I'd bet that's whats in there. Might be a good time to test it or change it to be sure.

A few years ago I replaced the original copper/brass with the much longer radiator used in some of the 454 2WD trucks. It was a challenge finding the longer fan shroud, and top closing panel, but I'm glad I did. During the installation I opened up the areas of the radiator core support, on the driver's side, like they would have been, had it come with the long radiator from the factory. I also found a reverse rotation 454 fan and put that on. It's been a nice upgrade. I posted a couple write-ups about it here on the square, but they're probably ruined because photobucket got so greedy and I stopped participating.

Why would a reverse rotation fan be an upgrade unless you swapped to a serpentine system?

The 1990 TBI SBC is reverse rotation. So when putting on any fan, whether it's the OE size, or like the big 454 that I have on now, I have to source the reverse rotation versions.
