I have a 1987 v30 1 ton 4x4 dually cab and chassis and was wondering if the body mounts are in the same location as the 75? The 87 has a solid frame but its been salvaged and the cab is rusted out so I need to replace it. I figured I would put a 75 cab on it so I can avoid smog.

Technically, Commiefornia titles vehicles by VIN. Before you start swapping cabs make sure you do the VIN verification on the new/old "cab" first on its existing chassis.

There is a partial stamped VIN on the top of the right frame rail near the gas tank on your V30. You don't want CHP or DMV looking at it after you install the new cab. They could force you to keep it registered as an '87.

You can also look at a diesel cab also. All square body diesels are smog exempt in California.
