I'm tired of pouring oil in my 305 engine. Have been looking at the BPE it looks like there casting there own blocks and aluminum heads. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about there engines? They have a good advertised warranty I'm just curious how much of a hassle it is to use if you do ever have an issue. Looking forward to hearing members comments and also any other suggestions. Thanks

I friend of mine bought one of the vortec headed 355's they sold back around '08-ish. It came with a chrome oil pan that always leaked. He ended up installing a Milodon pan on it that took care of it. He only drove it about 1k over the next 10 years and then pulled it for an LS swap. I ended up buying it for a project of my own, but I've not ran it yet. Despite living the easy life this whole time, I had to replace a freeze plug, that had probably been seeping since the get go.

I believe their newer stuff is put together with more care and better parts.

@mrburitto just ordered a 383 stroker from bpe, i believe the one that runs on regular gas. Might wanna see his rating on its quality when it arrives.

You didn't say what size engine you are considering for a replacement. Hopefully not another 305.

I have Blueprints heads on my 350 and they appeared to be excellent quality. I’ve had them on there for a couple of years and had no issues.

With 64cc heads and a thin head .026 gasket I picked up about 1.2 points of compression, and have way more flow than the original heads. I also switched to a 213/217 @ .050 cam. Not that aggressive, but good for low end torque in a truck.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm considering either a 350 or a 383. Smeding Performance in Texas is another place I have contacted by phone they seem to produce a quality engine as well.

They have run several on Engine Masters and they always have more hp/tq than the web site says they come with. They have never done a long term test though.

I visited with a cs rep at blue print engines and when i was questioning him about how warranty claims would be handled in case of an engine failure I wasn't to impressed with there policy, I believe I'll be looking elsewhere.
