Curious on what exactly I have, it seems I’m missing a number on the stamp on the block but from what I’ve found it came up as a 350...as for the heads they seem to have come off of a 305.

I have no info on what was done to the truck and what not as I had it brought up for me from around Chattanooga.

I have a performer intake and eldelbrock carb I was planning on putting on it.

Any info help would be greatly appreciated.

The 010 block is one of the strongest blocks. They were 2 or 4 bolts. Used from 1969-79 in cars and trucks. The first couple years of production had the highest nickel content. The 601 heads you have are junk. they had smaller intake valves 1.72 or 1.84. Standard 350 intake valves are 1.94. They had a 53 or 58cc combustion chamber which is better suited for the smaller engine. Replacing your heads would greatly improve performance especially at upper rpm range.

That's the same block I have.

Here is a pretty good site for checking: http://www.1968ss.com/sbcnumbers.asp

There are a few listings for it but more than likely I would say it's the 350.

Block Size Yr Mains Came in

3970010 327 69 2 Trucks and industrial

Thank you guys for the info...definitely will be keeping an eye out for some better heads, I do think my dad has a set of camel hump heads I might need to check into them.
