Blackout

So I'm soon to be prepping my truck for paint and the little body work it will need, with the scheme I want to go with I kind of want to black out the chrome trim, grill moldings headlight buckets etc..maybe even the new body side moldings I have on the way. Would wrapping the bigger chrome pieces be better than paint? Never wrapped before but I can paint pretty well. Anyone here black the front end of a square before?

IMO the only way wrap makes sense is if you have chrome bumpers.

Agreed, the only items know I'm painting is the bumper and grille.. paint will not stick to the chrome parts without plating removal. I'm sure it will flake in no time.

Mine is not completely blacked out but more than most. Only real change I made was buying an aluminum tube style grill. I had the stock one prepped and painted but after a couple years the paint on the plastic started chipping and pealing off.

We sand blasted a chrome bumper, and then POR-15 it.
That was around 1998, and its still 98% there.

Looks good man..im gonna hold on to the og grille as long as I can..I'll probably scuff, do a epoxy primer on it and flow coat the crap out of it. I'd really like to find a 74-76 gmc grille they are hard to come by though

I'll think about that with the chrome parts I want to paint got a friend with a soda blaster. Could be the ticket. My bumper is painted raw steel..won't be too crazy to refinish I'm sure

I've always just sanded and sprayed with zinc chromate primer. Old school but that's how it used to be done and it worked.
