I am in the process of swapping in 13 inch JB7 rear brakes onto a 14 bolt ff and found that the 1987 parts truck from which I'm getting the brake parts appears to have been using two left side backing plates. Or at least I assume that they are the same as far as the hole for the parking brake cable. One hole will point forward and the other will point to the back. I'm assuming that both holes should point to the front?

These are 1987 backing plates, so the parking brake cable is just plugged into a hole in the backing plate, and not secured with the triangle shaped bracket and cap screws.

I would imagine your assessment on hole location is correct, the plates if like the 10/12 bolts should be symmetrical, so should be able to drill the hole on the other side and plug the one facing rear wards.
