So I bought a 1979 GMC short bed step side 2wd last fall. 350 crate motor, turbo 400 with a 12 bolt.
After driving 300 miles home I did a big burnout and got the governor stuck. I replaced that and the modulator.
But now it seems to take 15-60 seconds to engage in gear. Fluid is full, clean and fresh.
It seems like the pump is losing its prime. Once it goes in gear it drives fine. Is my assumption of the pump being toast correct?
I’m getting ready to pull it for a freshening and just kinds looking for a heads up on what the real issue may be.
