Anyone running a Muncie/ Saginaw?

I need some help with a Saginaw 3 speed with Hurst indy shifter also. Mine is simple the levers on the side of the transmission.Are they the same length center to center as the factory levers or are the Hurst levers a different link center to center. I don't have Hurst arms so will have to make some if they are different

Put a Hurst shifter in the race car, assume the trans levers are factory? It gets the gears shifted just fine. In my case the shifter is mounted to the car, floor pan, not the tranny.

IME the levers affect the throw of the shift lever, shorter levers equal shorter "throw". Most aftermarket levers are shorter than the original equipment levers. I just put a Muncie M20 together for my son's Chevy II, I will measure the levers on it and some of the other levers I have laying around. The slotted part that attaches to the shifter shafts are a little different depending on application, but that can be made to work with a file(lots of work) or a plasma cutter. Be back later with measurements.........Also @wanderinthru is your engine mounted solid? Most of the time the torque over will screw up the shifter geometry and missed 1 to 2 shifts were very common. My 68 Chevy II and my 70 Chevelle, both had shifters mounted to the cross member..........did NOT work well under power!!! Used a turnbuckle on the Chevy II and a new Hurst on the Chevelle.

If I can remember what bucket they were put in when I moved, I have levers from an Indy 3 speed shifter that was removed from an '85 Saginaw C10.

Yes sir, everything is solid, body is still on rubber, engine and trans are solid. The "stop" bolts on the shifter are backed all the way out so there is plenty of play. Car is geared 6.20, so except putting it on the trailer 3rd is about all I'll need.

Got one original equipment lever. It's long, a little over 3 inches overall. My other aftermarket levers are anywhere from 2 inches overall to 2 1/2 inches. Some are offset mount to rod hole and the slotted end for the lever mount is offset on some, that is the lever is NOT straight up and down when in neutral. Really won't make a lot of difference how long,offset,etc. as long as you can set the shifter up to fit your application. Levers should be the same length, but not absolutely necessary for them to work. That's all I got.......

@idahovette well I'm still here,I've got my Saginaw levers which I planned on using if they were close in center to center length. My concern was If the levers were significantly different in length I didn't want so much more travel on the shifter end,that I beat the detents out of the transmission.

Drill your shifter and add the bolts for the stops. The Original OP posted and hasn't replied to any comments
