I came across a 350 that has been completely rebuilt, the only down fall is they never put the heads on it, and its been stored under a work bench for years. The motor was Free and the filled the cylinder walls with grease so the cylinders are still good just need to tear it back apart and have the block hot tanked again to get all the dusty grease out of the motor.

Heres my delima. I am wanting to clean this motor up and put it back togather and install it in the K30 just to get it on the road. The Problem is I do not have the Brackets for ANY of the accessories: Power steering, Alternator, A/C Compressor, none of it. I can get a complete pulley and bracket system off of an 89 3/4t truck that has the serpentine belt for free, I am curiouse if I can adapt it to my older 350 engine, or what kind of problems will I run into?

I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is important...I think the serpentine belt setup is for reverse-rotation water pumps. If you put it on without the correct water pump the engine would overheat. That's the main thing I see issue with.

Yep I'm pretty sure all that will transfer, just get use the 89 water pump. Are the PS pump pressures different?

Do you really think you'd have to pull that motor apart to clean the grease out? What kind of grease? And did he litterally fill them with grease or just coat the walls? I'd think you could wipe the walls clean, then finish them with carb cleaner without having to disassemble the motor.

Does the bracket and pulley setup not include the pump? You should be able to use your pump with the serpentine pulley, I think the shaft is the same length. You just need the special puller/installer for the pulley.

If you want to use the newer pump, you may need an adapter fitting for the pressure hose. '79 and older pumps had flare fittings IIRC.

Yes, the older pumps use flare fittings on the ends of the hoses.

BTW, Glad to see you back on the site Pops. How else is everything coming on the K30? I've finally made some progress on my 85K1500. I hope to be installing the recently built Th350 in it tommorow. The heat will decide if I get it done or not.

No the pressures i would think would still be ok. What concerns me is the K30 has Hydro boost which has an extra return line to the pump, the 89 truck has is vaccume boost so the pump wont be the same. I am hoping I can use my pump with the 89 serpentine pulley.

LOL Yea they put a **** load of grease in there, I would probably of been able to just clean it up with out dismantiling it but, It has set in under the work bench OPEN so theres alot of saw dust, dust, filler dust ect. ect. that I want to make damn sure i get it all out.

I the pump is on the bracket but it doesnt have 2 return ports in it. If the pump from the 85 will bolt to it then it should be a big deal, even if I have to make an spacer if the shafts are different diameters which i doubt they are.

Actually pretty slow, I am actually just trying to get the truck on the road so I can get it hidden from the wife, It is still parked at her parents house and we are facing a divorce. So I am wanting to get it titled in anothers name or sell it. I have my 96 sold already but not till after the first of the year.

You'd only need 2 return ports if you are going to run the hydro boost brakes. You could convert to Vac boost in about 20 minutes. I did my diesel truck. Got a nice new looking vac boost at pull a part for $15. Bolted it on in place of the hydro boost and put the same master cylinder on it. Piece of cake.

Ahhh ****. Divorce sucks. Espeically with the kids and sounds like you're expecting an asset fight. A spoon for you, and a spoon for you, a fork for you and a fork for you, a lug nut for you, and a lugnut for you. Hate those kinds of asset division divorces. Luckily mine wasn't that way. I kept all my **** inluding my HOUSE and MY VEHICLES. I sent her on her way the clothes on her back and all gifts she had gotten from me, and all her personal belongings. She did good leaving with a 17ft box truck of stuff being she came to me with 2 milk crates and that was everything she owned when she came to me. So I got lucky and she didn't fight for **** knowing she had it easy the 10 years we were together. Good Luck on that **** man. If it has to happen, keep it as civil as possible, if not for yourself and your own sanity but for your son. He's still pretty young to deal with that ****.

Yea I could swap it out to a booster but honestly I want to keep it hydro boost, because If I dont sell it eventually i would like to put a cummins in it one day.

Yea both my my daughter just turned 9 yesterday, and my son will be 5 in november. I would like it to be civil, but knowing who her family is I will be suprised, For example of how ****** they are. When we first got togather we hit a deer in her car when the insurance paid out on it they sent the check to her mom well instead of her mom giving her the money to fix the car she kept the 3,000 and bought 2 other cars for her twin 16 year old sisters and told her she would have to figure out how to fix it her self. So guess who had to fix it. YEP ME. Point is her family will influence her on what she should do so **** them Everything I own is getting sold before hand atleast I will get something out of it.
Guns, Bows, all hunting equipment, Both Trucks, Boat, Tools Tools and more tools ALL getting sold, there isnt anything left of the Business so not worried about that, I am going back over the road atleast till everything is settled. Any money i get from selling off my stuff is going to the casino or atleast as far as they will know.

Oh hell, I hate to hear that about the kids ages. Just as bad about her family though. My bro's family sounds identical and he had hell in his divorce. She was willing to be civil, not attorneys involved, they both had agreed on everything, UNTIL her famiy got involved then the divorce cost a fortune in attorney fees and honestly, all they owned wasn't worth what the both of them paid in attorney fees and then my bro admitted, he should have just done what you're talking about doing. Keep in mind, my dad has his 160 acres at exit 217 of I 40 with lots and lots of room. If you decided you need to stash something for a few months to let the heat die off and things finalize, get in touch. You're only a few hours away. He's an hour closer to you than I am in OKC.

Thanks I will remember that.
