AC Cover

Finally got around to replace the heater/AC fan. Took off the "cover" and this was what was under it.

That's what mine looks like. I wonder why your's was special enough to have the cover.

The only thing I can think of is the diesel put out a lot of heat and it was a barrier. Who knows!

They're not that fragile, just be careful. If you do manage to break it, JB weld and black paint are your best friends.

Mine is the same on a 6.2. The front cover on it literally fell apart into small pieces.

I'm going to be replacing the AC stuff on the 85 C10. Does anyone else have the AC cover like this that covers the blower motor? I know that when I start to remove it it will fall apart. Maybe just replace with one that doesn't cover the blower motor.

The k5s with 6.2s have this protective cover.

Yes diesel specific. Extra heat buffer.

Speicifically, diesels are notorious for not making a lot of heat idling. The cover would be insulation for your heater core and that is an effort to make the cabin more comfortable in cold weather. Which is why they came with insulation as a standard up-quip over gas
