A/C rebuild list. May help someone

This is the list I’ve come up with, but there may be some better deals out there. Prices are with taxes. I will have to get some lines made from a shop once I get it all together. Total price is 523.45 and still needs lines.I know Original Air makes a complete kit(https://www.originalair.com/83-87-chevy-gmc-truck-ac-performance-upgrade-kit-v8-stage-3)for $775 and includes lines. At checkout it said $972 after taxes and shipping.

The compressor I bought comes pre-filled with pag oil. Do I need mineral oil for something else? My first build.

No, I don't think so.
The pag oil is what's needed in the compressor.

From what it looks like, you have everything there in your list.

No mineral oil unless you’re setting it up with R12. PAG for R134a.

Not sure how this system works, but every AC system I did (25+) there was PAG oil added to the compressor and also in the accumulator.

I have the Vintage Air setup but bought a later bracket and compressor to use instead. Just liked how it mounts better.

Yeah that was my bad. I just serviced my AC in my truck, converted to R134.

No biggie. It’s just that PAG and mineral oil like each other about as much as the Saudis and Iranians or two other groups that fervently dislike each other.

This is an awesome list. I am going to be redoing the 82 we have because the system has been open for an unknown amount of time (and currently has a compressor that doesn't mount properly) so everything will need to be replaced.

I got around to looking at your parts and the kit parts. This compressor is the full size version instead of the pancake style. I'd like to see pics of it installed to how that mounts and fits.

Of course! The compressor came in today and I actually bought 2 different brackets, so I’ll show both of them installed for you guys as soon as they come in. The other bracket I bought is

This bracket looks like it keeps the pump closer to the engine, and doesn’t connect to any of the exhaust mounts. So will work with any header.

Try Original Air (Classic Auto Air) I bought their kit includes everything but evap and condenser for $500. They also have great tech support, as I was installing this system with no experience what so ever on AC, I was able to get the system up and running with no issues. I provided a link to what I bought.

Update: The condenser I listed still makes you notch out a part of the radiator support. It was an easy job with a cutoff wheel. I think most aftermarket condensers are about the same dimensions. I decided to go with the original air bracket and looks great. It allows for a lot of adjustability and keeps the compressor more compact.

Finished up the a/c. Not as cold as I wanted with fan setting on high, 60 degrees idling. Granted it was about 100 degrees in my garage. Fan on low brought temps around 45 degrees. I haven’t tried any temps while driving yet.
