96 vortec 305 swap 454

I'm thinking about buying a 7.4 litre and dropping it into my Chev but just wondering if anyone knows the whole process of this swap and if I can get some step by step help or point me to where I can find this out. Thanks

What transmission do you have in that GMT400? I'm guessing it's a 4L60E since it came with a 305? If so, that engine is going to make your tranny throw in the towel. The 454SS came with a 4L80E, which is what I would want paired with it if I were you. I think they might have come with TH400 the first year, which is a good option, too. You've gotta have a transmission that's going to be able to hold up to those torquier constraints. A good rear end is also critical to get the most out of that swap. As far as putting the engine in the truck, you pretty much just have to drop it in and get the bigger radiator/appropriate core support. I'm not the most knowledgeable, but no one's answered you yet, and I figure you want to know something sooner rather than later.
