I did a search but didn't find the answer I was looking for, so here it is my question...
Is there a way to tell if the regulator is going out on a window or is it the motor?

The front passenger window on our 1991 suburban doesn't want to roll down or up (thankfully it is currently in the up position), it just moves about 1/2". It makes no difference if you try to push it up or pull it down. Any thoughts on what it might be?
TIA

You should take off the door panel and see if anything is binding up. On my 79 the nuts that mount the motor to the sheet metal actually pulled out the sheet metal, and the window and motor assembly fell to the bottom of the door

If you cant get it to move at all I would guess something is binding, your motor may be weak also its pretty common. Try and get the moving parts lubed up and there is product for window channels that sprays on dry its called silicone spray(not the brand name) but it works well and helps the windows slide easier in the tracks.

All the other windows work fine then? It wouldn't be a ground issue if all the other windows work fine because it's built into the harness. Did you try the window switch on both sides? If you did then that tells me it's the motor or regulator or a bad connection.

Took the door panel off today, couldn't see anything obvious, but man is space limited to look. When pressing the window switches in the "down position" there is a clunk sound and nothing more. I have not checked voltage at the switch.
