I have the stock shocks....yes they are old but only have 24000 miles on them. They seem soft but pass the old bounce test. Did the 85 Siverados have a very soft ride or do I need to look at new shocks? My only other comparison is an F250 or a Sport Trac and they are riding on new shocks and are much firmer.

In my experience, the GM C-trucks and the body-on-frame cars have soft rides with factory grade shocks, as I'm sure the Chrysler Products and Fords do. You could upgrade to a higher end shock and firm up the ride, but as long as your not constantly bobbing, swaying, or leaning, I'd say you're okay. If it passes the shock test, that's a good sign, too. My Jimmy's a bad comparison because it's a V-truck, but the shocks were bad on my Caprice when I first got it, and when doing the shock test, you could damn near make the bumpers touch the ground. You only have that many factory miles on the truck? Pics, my friend. We need pictures.

Just an update, the rear shocks are good but the front ones were shot. Put a set on the front and its like night and day driving!

I hear you. I've been driving my dad's truck some, and the shocks only have 28,000 miles on them, but they were put on back in 2010, and they are totally shot. Glad you got it riding nice now!
