79 k10 bed weight

I am looking for a flatbed for my 79 k10 long bed. Would like to match original bed weight.

Good point, there is a little bondo.
The weight reduction from rust may be compensated for somewhat by the bondo. One of my concerns has to do with the travel on the aftermarket shocks.
Another is the profile, do not want her to squat before I put a load on her.
So matching the weight of the bed when I removed it is more relevant than when new.
The 3/4 springs I added a few years ago acted like a lift kit and increased load capacity.

Has any one ever installed an add-a-leaf.
Would it help if I go with a heavy flatbed?

The ultimate really are airbags... You can raise your weight capacity through the roof with these while retaining a decent ride from softer springs.
The more weight your springs can handle the more the truck rides like a brick ********* when empty..

Pass the crow, please!

While I didn’t furnish a guess, I think @bucket wins this one.

My guess in my head was a touch under 400. So I was way off. I can’t believe my bed weighs that much.

With tailgate. Without the bumper.
‘80’s trucks probably weight less.
I wonder what ‘73 weighs?
Or an ‘85?

Probably the same. They didn't start using galvanized steel until the end on the last blazers and burbs. Changes in steel thickness would have necessitated new/more structural bracing and new crash tests.

This just blows my mind... I guess I'm much stronger than I ever imagined. How the hell do two teenagers move nearly 500lbs?? I don't get it.

Because they are teenagers! Lift as much as possible, without a care in the world or the fear of what the next day will feel like.

Over 5x body weight deadlift would win any deadlift competition in the world...ever. A 5x deadlift was only first accomplished in competition in the past couple years.

Your buddy may have been exaggerating slightly.
