My friend recently acquired this '74 GMC 3/4 ton Camper Special. He would like to repaint the hubcaps, but hasn't figured out what is the correct color to paint the "GMC" on the hubcaps. Does anyone know what that actual color is supposed to be?

Great looking truck. A good start would probably be the color on the fender and cab corner emblems.

The black on the hubcap is a satin black and not glossy, correct?

The ones I’ve seen are satin black... but I can’t say for sure what came new in ‘74

Good thread! Also good to know the colors, as I plan to do the same for my 76 GMC.

It’s 1974 Crimson Red

How about the gray color for the grill? Is it like an argent silver?

Damn that’s a nice truck! ‘73-‘74 are the best looking grilles. The silver is probably sun faded and oxidized. It’s usually just a little darker, I’d bet you can find a spot that still shows the original shade. It’s in great shape and should be easy to restore. I would love to own that one.

Love that truck!
Brings back memories. When I was 8 (I remember this stuff, lol), parents bought a 74 C20 camper special 454 from my uncle. Had 3” chrome side pipes too! Was a mean truck. Unfortunately by the time we got the truck it only had a couple years before the cancer showed up and it was a rust bucket by the time I was 12.

Like that truck more every time I look at it!
Argent is probably the right color however it''s the only piece that color on the front so nothing to "match."
FWIW, I don't have argent, but have leftover Dodge Light Driftwood metallic, circa 2000. Have use it on a couple argent bumpers and now these headlight buckets and seems about right even though not "argent".
Just showing that as long as it's close noone gonna know the difference unless it's going to be a show truck #1 resto.
