Yeah i know C10=2wd and k10=4wd but trying to figure out best way to tell if I have a C10 body on a 4wd frame. Bought the truck and it has a 14bff rear and a D44 front. Previous owner says the guy before him put 3/4 axles under it. Well when crawling under the truck it does appear to have new U Bolts on the front and rear making me think the axles were changed, along with a TH400 but my title says its a C10. Noticed the truck does have a body lift in it using actual pucks in under the cab and square tube in the rear which i thought was common to put a 2wd cab on a 4x4 frame. Could it be the title is wrong or do I have a 2wd body?
Thanks

Its easy to swap a 2wd cab onto a 4wd cab. Most 4wd trans humps just unbolt from the cab so you just cut the floor in the 2wd cab and bolt up the 4wd hump and call it a day.

Take a look if you can and if done properly the trans hump will be bolted in.

If done properly there is nothing wrong or even anything really different with a 2wd body on a 4wd frame except the 4wd indicator light on the dash between the speedo and fuel gauge( although that is easily remedied by a trip to the junkyard for parts )

The only issue is when it comes to insurance or DOT laws as it would need to be inspected and reissued a new VIN as it would be considered a built vehicle. I think!! lol

Its so much easier to put the 4wd VIN on the new body then trying to get the 2wd certified as 4wd

well its already been licensed and titled like this so do i really need to worry about it? It also has a np205 twin stick tcase in it so im not worried about the 4x4 light. It also explains why some of the wiring is going to need cleaned up lol

I would not worry about changing the title

I have a 3/4 ton 4x4 cab on a 2 wheel drive low rider

the only reason I might change the title is a 1/2 ton is cheaper to register here

I'd leave the VIN issues alone. It's not a show or collector truck right? So drive it as is and enjoy the cheaper insurance premiums. At my age, driving record and year models, there is not difference in my C20 and K10 as far as cost, but I've heard for the younger kids or some states regardless of age, 4x4 cost more to insure even for just liability.

Just going by what I've seen in vintage jeeps, 1 stick is for high/low range, 1 stick for 2wd/4wd.
