I replaced my rubber inserts clamshell inserts with poly ones and now I have following question:

Is it better to use the original motor mount bracket which also sits on the tabs of the insert or can I also use an aftermarket bracket that only sits on the bolt?

If you have the originals, just use them. The tabs make the install much easier because you just set the engine down in there and the tabs line up the bolt holes for you.
