I just scored big time with this truck.

It hadn't run in about 10 years, but that did not stop me from driving it home.

$250 for a solid 4wd 3/4 ton truck that sort of runs.

The guy parked it with a full tank of gas, so the there wan no chance of the fuel system working, so we ran it off a boat tank and an electric fuel pump, and it drove right home.

Next step is to yank out the gas tank and sort all of that out as well as replace the rear wheel cylinders (one popped on me).

Nice! Should have the 9.5” sf 14 bolt rear end if it’s a lite duty 2500

I got the gas tank out, and it was not really usable.

$23 later, I got a really nice gas tank from a local junkyard.

I plan to reuse the sending unit, but replace the pump.

It’s depends on the GVWR. Lite duty 6 lug 2500 is 7200# and Heavy duty 8 lug 2500 is 8600#. 8 lug 2500 was the 3/4ton frame 10.5” full floater rear nv4500/4l80/th400 trans. 6 lug 2500 is more like a heavy 1/2ton. 1/2ton frame with more often than not nv3500/4l60/th350 trans but bigger brakes, heavier springs/leafs than 1/2 ton. There was a factory option for heavy half ton rpo code f44 and came with the same 9.5” sf rear but was badged 1500. Same 9.5” sf 14 bolt rear found in the early 90s SS Silverado trucks except the SS was 5 lug. Good upgrade from the weak 10 bolt rears. Here’s a pic of my 96’ 2500 6 lug

That's what I always read about the F44. But my brother's '89 K1500 has the F44 rpo code, with a garden variety 10 bolt out back. It's original to the truck as well.

I got the new fuel system back together, as well as a new brake line.

I replaced the the fuel pump, but not the sending unit, so I am now exactly $306 into this truck, and it is at least semi road worthy.

It runs great, and the trans shifts silky smooth despite sitting for ao many years.
