I just bought a 1987 Silverado it runs awful, it has a rebuilt 350 in it. The person I bought it from never set the timing. It starts and runs but cuts out and backfires when you try and drive it. I brought it up to operating temp and unplugged the wire by the master cylinder and it won't start with the wire undone. Also if the truck dies and you leave the key on the fuel pump continues to run and the injectors will still fire. I don't know a lot of history about this truck because I just got it. The previous owner sold it because he gave up on getting it running.

Injectors must be leaking, they only fire on pulse from the distributor....unless the injector ground wires are stripped and grounding out(green and blue wires) Get that distributor timed to 0* with th wire unpluged, but only after the engine is warmed up.

There is a "new thread" button at the top right of each sub forum.............Haha<<<<I have no idea what that means, but its popular with kids these days.

Check the wires going to the injectors where they enter the throttle body. Very common spot for a broken or pinched wire.
