I just bought a 1984 K20 it has a 350 with automatic was a manual trans a one point. I’ve been doing so research but can’t find what I’m looking for. Trying to figure out what transfer case I have it appears to be cast iron. The lever back toward seat is 4hi then neutral then 4lo. It has lock hubs up front. From what I read it a np203 if that’s true shouldn’t it have hi and lo lock then? 5 positions instead of 3? Any info would be great.
Thanks, Derek

Most t/c units have a round, red tag that tells model. Might be buried under crud.

Can't remember ever seeing a tag on a cast iron tc. Should be either a 203 or a 205, and I think the 203's had an aluminum tailshaft housing?

Sounds more like an NP205 IMO. No telling though, someone could have swapped the T case handle knob. If it has manual hubs then they'd have to be locked up for the truck to move if it were an NP203 unless it had a Mile Marker part time conversion kit in it.

NP203 has a differential in it that would do just that. There should be a lever position that locks the center diff that would allow it to move that way.

Not saying that's how you should operate it, but it would confirm what I suspect.
