Hello,
Been on here a little while and have gotten some great help! Thank you ! To the great community a forum! I’ve managed to get this little truck running and driving finally got her to my garage. (after a tow) lol. But she runs and drives now . Just was looking g for opinions on what I should do to bring it back around. From what I’ve figured out it is a 1982 with a 250 ci turbo 350 automatics trans , standard 8.5 in rear end . Everything on her currently is stock it’s a one owner truck family owned. I was thinking to drop a new 350 crate engine in it and restore the body call it good but if there are better opinions out there just checking what y’all would do with this. Already purchased the street grip ride tech suspension system to knock that out and lower it some. Wheel and tire suggestions for this set up would be helpful because it currently looks like a fat chick in yoga pants. Thanks guys and gals!

A 350 with a mild cam to give it a little thump would be sweet.

How does one with my limited skills go about hoppin up an old 250? This SOB has over 200k miles on it. Some how starts right the F up even on cold days with 5year old ethanol gas. I’m honestly stunned I can scoot her around the neighborhood. There doesn’t seem to be nearly the following or parts for these straight six like the 350. Also it’s a smog truck and I have no idea what I can pull off and plug and what not. I just think getting a crate engine I know is new and it will go in with limited difficulty (hopefully) eliminate smog and get more pep in the step. Also know it’s new and will be more reliable than this beauty from the 80s as much as I want to keep it alive there is some part of me that wants to not get sick on the side of the road.

Takes me back to a better time. I had the exact same truck but a stepside. Loved that little truck.

If I went 250, I would see what it would take to import an MPFI 250 from Argentina. Or even a TBI 250 from Mexico.

From a post I made just a few minutes ago about my 82 C10 with a 250 six:

BTW, my conversion from six with manual trans to V-8 with auto trans was not trivial. Had to research and find lots of parts, such as any bracket you can name, along with a new radiator, fan, shroud, pulleys, belts, PS pump hoses, fuel pump, distributor, and on and on. Also, I had to modify the engine compartment wiring.
