1981 C30 Dually

Hey y’all Ive been MIA for minute. Work is crazy busy and I’m also getting ready to ship out and join the Navy. Hooyah!

Here is my current situation. I live in California and most of the mechanics I’ve contacted will not work on my 1981 C30. I’m not being dramatic, they won’t even take a look at it. I’m quickly told that it’s too old or that they only work on pre smog. If I had the time to work on it then I’d do it myself, but with my current 80 hour work week it’s just not possible for me. Do any of y’all Californians deal with the same rejections from mechanics/auto shops?

The 5 speed is a good upgrade. I do my own work so not sure how shops are and I'm in TX anyway.
I noticed on your options tag you have a glide out spare tire carrier.
Can you take a pic? My 78 k10 is missing most of the pieces that makeup the assembly.

Howdy. I’ve been gone for over a year with the navy, but I’m finally back and now I’m residing in the east coast. Update, I still have my dually and it’s performing like a champ. I got some work done before shipping it to Virginia. Here’s a list of all the work done so far:

Quadrajet rebuild
Converted choke to electric
Front brake inspection and new pads
6 new tires - Gt Radial Adventuro
New thermostat
Both fuel tank’s functioning
All new fluids.

The truck runs smooth and I’m averaging 12.3 mpg which I found to be impressive for this beast.

Anyway, I hope everybody had a great Christmas and everybody stays healthy.
