The hood latch is also an option. You had to select inside hood latch, otherwise it came with just the release under the hood. If you look in the glove box, is there a piece of paper glued to the inside of the glove box door?
That’s cool, I never knew inside hood release was an option before ’81. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the older trucks but every ‘81 and newer have all had them. I always assumed it was a change that came with the new front end.

This is what they sent me for the $50
Dang…. That’s pretty cool, I don’t think it’s worth $50 for me. Maybe if it had the full RPO details.

Is that why @CalSgt 's truck build is called the squircle build?
Yeah…. Someone on here referred to it as a squircle when I did my introduction. Not my terminology, I officially plagiarized the term for my build thread.

I have one that I think came out of a '77-'78 truck. Dad bought it and new kick panels for the '77 burb he was restoring. Still have them, don't think the hood release has been installed on a truck. Kicks are Saddle Tan.

They must not have been a common option in my neck of the woods, almost as rare as the hands free parking brake release in that truck lol

i think later years got them added to more of the lower trims but realistically people usually bought trucks for work and tbh unless you have a theft issue its kinda nice being able to open the hood at the hood

I did this because mine was missing also. You can go to the GM Heritage Center and view the original Vehicle information kits here: https://www.gm.com/heritage/archive/vehicle-information-kits

You can email them a form and a $50 payment and they will email you a .pdf file with the original vehicle invoice for any Chevy/GMC made after 1977. You can look here: https://www.gm.com/heritage/archive
Towards the bottom there is a link to a form that you can fill out with the vehicle VIN and year/make/model plus all your information and payment info. There is also an email address to send it to and they will email you back with the .pdf of the original vehicle invoice.
That is awsome thank you so very much i am definitely going to get this for our truck.

It does have a sheet with every RPO on it. That was the main reason I got it. The inventory Page 1 has the list. The first three numbers/letters are the RPO.

I believe this is the build sheet that you find attached behind your seat. Different from the glove box sheet

Yes but you didnt exactly get a guarantee you would find the one in your seat. I dont have one for example. BUt we all did our SPid. the spid would be created out of the first page of that build sheet that bex showed us :)

What the GM Heritage center will send you is the vehicle invoice sheet, which included pricing. The build sheet (akin to the mopar broadcast sheet) would not have pricing, just the options for the assembly line to put the correct parts on. The information otherwise would (should) be the same though.

like the mopars, the build/broadcast sheets were for internal routing and usage. So some may have them under the seat in the springs, some behind pillar trim, under the dash pad, etc, some may had been tossed and never left with the vehicle.
Not a squarebody of course, but my dart had 4 broadcast sheets in it, all belong to it and match, one around the steering column, under the front seat, under the rear seat, and under the carpet.
here’s a picture of a 67-72 truck build sheet, which would be similar to a square body. I have partial fragments of one from a 74 GMC

The first year for the option was '77. I must have a knack for finding them, as I have a '77, '78 and '79 with the option. There's two 77's and a '79 here that don't have the option. It's literally a 50/50 split here.

1980 GMC roundeye... 2 wheel drive with a 2 inch lift. Before the hate starts just like the look of it up a little with some more meat. Workin on a ground up resto. My son and I are going for better then new but not over the top on our resto. Adding things like Sniper EFI, power locks, maybe power windows, new GPS speedo and custom gauges. Making her a daily driver.
I agree with you, i always wanted to lift the front of both of my 2wds
