I've been trying to figure out what the ultimate plow truck would be for me, so started looking for parts. I found a 1980 K30 Scottsdale single tire that I'm going to go look at, just curious what people think the average price on this might be. Only info I have at the moment is body is beat, needs bed, passenger door and front clip...not rust, just major dents. No clue what the motor is other than it does not run, has automatic, no clue which one, and 205 transfer case. Being a one ton, I would assume that it has the full float 14 in the rear and dana 60 in the front...once again, not sure. Said it has hydro-boost brakes, factory A/C, cruise, tilt, and crank windows. Mostly would be buying it for the 1 ton running gear and cab, I have good doors and clip for it and want to put a flat bed on it. Guy claims it has a factory lift, never heard of that before. Is asking $1500 firm for it, is that average or high?

I'd say he's high both literally and figuratively. The most I'd go would be 900, and I'd start somewhere around 700.

Only reason I'm even considering it is been trying to find a set of axles, 14 bolt FF and dana 60 front single tire both, and closest I've found around here lately is $1200 a set. Around here means 150 mile radius for me, not willing to drive farther. All this because my 82 plow truck is a total rust loss since it was used as a salt rig before, and I wanted to swap it to auto so my wife could use it to plow snow when I'm gone somewhere. I've scavenged all the body parts except a cab and was going to have to swap the auto stuff from my 86 with the 4 speed, which was just more work I don't have time for. Figured with this truck, could just slap my motor in it, bolt on a clip in the process and the plow and be done.

Yeah, that's about what that set of axles goes for in my part of the world too. My thought though, is in non running condition, you don't know what shape the trans is in. As a collection of parts, he's probably in the ballpark price wise, but I also think that sum of the parts are greater than the value of the whole.

Verify the front is dana 60, I had a guy ripped out the 60 and replace it with a 44 and swore that was the axle that came in it. After confronting him about it he confessed it swapped the axle for his buggy. If the drivetrain is good, 1500 on a 1T is really good up here.

A d60 alone here is $1500...not rebuilt. It’s interesting how much variation there is geographically.

Based on the picture it's a D60. I can tell from the larger hubs and front hub caps. D60 hub caps have more flare.

As Frankenchevy said, in our neck of the woods the front axle is worth $1500 by itself, but we live within an hour of the Rubicon Trail.

The "Factory lift" is probably the taller frame on a K30 and the 3 leaves in the front end.

They're the same here. I've seen a set asked for 4K stock. The guy was definitely smokin' something.

Pictures do speak volumes, but one should still verify in person. lol

Sadly, the last d60 14b set I sold took 6 months or better to get $1000 for. Chevy axles go cheap up here. The pricey ones are the ford d60, because they have the driver side diff, that works with jeeps, and newer trucks getting sfa conversions.

So this is weird, just talked to the guy and he claims the truck was originally a C30, not saying it can't be done, but that's a heck of a lot of modifying to make it what I see in the pictures. Guy doesn't even know if it's a th350 or th400, just that it worked good and the motor blew up, 350 small block (he thinks). Definitely have to go look at it now just to figure out what I'm even dealing with.

I paid 1,000 for my C20 in running condition. Not apples to apples. If the frame and running gear are solid, offer 1,000 and see where it goes.

How long ago was it? The last pair I sold, it took only a few days to get $900 for the pair. This was probably a good 5 years ago now.

It was only a couple years ago. Had a lot of people that just wanted the front, but even then they weren't offering much. The 14 bolt ff rears are pretty common up here, so they don't command much either. At the time I had the matched set of d60/14b, a 10b/14bSF set, and a mismatched d70hd and d44 eight lug front. Would have been easier to give away a dead cat. Took forever to get them all sold.

A D60 in good condition with 4.11 or 4.56 gears is worth about $1600 in Georgia

It would sell for $900 in about an hour
