1973 K20 4x4 - Engine dies when AC turned on

I'm no motor head but a quick learner. I had my local shop put in a rebuilt 350 with new intake, carb and redo the AC. Now once I'm driving around and come to a stop with the AC on, the car stalls. The only way to keep it running whiled stopped is to have my foot on the brake and give it a little throttle. Not sure if I need to adjust the idle or ??? Any ideas?

It should have a fast idle solenoid mounted on the carb to speed the idle up 300 rpm or so when ever the ac compressor is energized. I got one made by Edelbrock.

I agree that a kicker solenoid should take care of it, but there could be other contributing issues like poor carb tuning or a vacuum leak.

you absolutely need the high idle solenoid. is it on there and working? if it's there and working then like bucket said. highdesertranger
