1955 GMC truck ... ready to restore, but what model is it?

This was given to me by a dear family member. I've been waiting for a good day to take a picture of it. What model is this pick-up? I've been told a "dent-side V100" or something like that.

Nice looking truck, big back window is not real common (at least on Chevys of that era). Can't help with ID, checked my book but it doesn't have model numbers for the GMC's.

Nice! Pretty clean too! Guess the rust don't get to 'em much when they're frozen solid for 7 months out of the year!
Truck don't look like it hit too many moose either....maybe none.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty rare. You don't often see a 55 big window, doubly rare to see the long bed step-side.

Is there any identifying marks? Does it have the serial number tag on it still? Parts identification plate?

If you can find the serial number it will tell you exactly what it is.

First three numbers will be model #. 100 series is 1/2 ton, 150 series is 3/4 ton and 250 series is 1 ton.

1955 will be a Y-series, 1956 would be X-series.

If there is an "8" after the first three numbers it will be a V-8 truck originally. If there is no 4th digit it was a 6 cylinder.

I was able to get a pic of the identification tab. What puzzles me is that the letter that would designate what factory it was built in, looks closer to an "O", though it should be a "C".
