18x8 33's on stock 91 Suburban

I just got a 1991 Suburban 2500 4x4 gas up and running. One of the things needed to get it up and out of the ranch it was located was putting new wheels on it. I put stock wheels off a Dodge Ram 3500. The wheels are 33's, with 18x8 inch rim. They fit, however, they have almost no offset and are rubbing on the left wheel against the tie rod when the wheels are turned right.

Before I purchase spacers, what is the best method to measure and finding out how much of a spacer I need. I initially thought I would just purchase a 2 inch spacer and call it a day, but now Im thinking I can use less but am not sure how to do that measurement.

For a stock stance, you will want 4 inches of backspace (zero offset). You can probably use a narrower spacer to achieve that, but it has to be thick enough to cover the length of the wheel studs in the hub.

Thank you, I ended up going with a 2 inch spacer all around. it resolved the issue of the left wheel hitting the tie rod end. Next step will be to replace the tie rod end and swap out the shocks.

I'm trying to update my wheels on my 1991 V1500 Suburban and the offset / backspacing info on the web has me confused. I got the following from a listing
of factory GM wheels. It indicated that the rim has a positive 25mm offset.....ET25 under rim.

From this post above it looks like my factory offset is 00mm and backspace should be 4.00". No back spacing listed here. From my head I am remembering 00mm offset and 4.5 or 4.75 backspacing.....but thats from my memory and it is not so good anymore.

I'm running factory wheels now with 33/10.5R15 tires on it and it fits the fenders fine with no rubbing and no lift at all. I use it on the road as a DD and light off road roads (gravel/sand/dirt)....no trails.

I want to add bigger brakes which will require a 17" wheel and a slightly taller and wider tire then the 33".....more like 33.8 tall and a tad wider then the 33's on it now.

My Question: What kind of issues will I have if I run 17x8.5 Method 301 wheels with 00mm offset and 4.75 backspacing and a Toyo LT285/75R17???

Inquiring minds want to know.

With the larger rim, that backspace should work fine.

If you get it twisted up the tires will rub fenders. If you don't venture too far off the beaten path you should be ok. The larger backspacing only makes this problem worse.
