14 bolt 10.5 rebuild questions

My 14 bolt is in need of a rebuild so Im going to buy new gears and master rebuild kit. My question is which brand would you guys recommend. Any experience using certain ones. I know the rebuild kit and gears both range in price.

I went with Motive Gear, and the rear end shop who did mine said that was a good brand. Their emphasis was on using quality oil, a good limited slip additive, and playing by the rules during the break in period. This means stopping and letting it cool and not driving more than 55 during the first few drives, not to peel out or put any other undue load on it, and don’t tow any trailers for 750-800 miles IIRC. I’m not having any issues.

I would only use a master kit that comes with Timken bearings. for gears I like Richmond gear, but I heard good things about Yukon gear. highdesertranger

From personal experience BUY TIMKEN! I had duralast and they fell apart before it even got installed.

I replaced everything from axles to pinion with Yukon parts on the 12 bolt in my 69 SS Chevelle. Good quality parts.
