Have an 03 chevy 1500 and the muffler is starting to rust out. Anyone ever use a thrush? Heard they are pretty much the same a a fm40 but for half the price. If you have used thrush before what was the cab drone like. Will just be replacing the muffler on my truck and it still has the stock cats. Thx for the info

They have a nice rumble, not too loud with stock cats.

What about with no cats? Little cab drone is fine I just dont want to be yelling at the person in the passenger seat to talk to them

Still shouldn't be too bad. But there are other factors too, like exit location, gear ratio and tire size (engine speed and load) that can cause drone.

Would be stock exit, 3:73 ratio, tires are 265 but may be 285, truck normaly doesnt have much of a load , maybe a sled or dirt bike

TBH, thrush is just a brand. They make everything from a glasspack to a chambered muffler.

In the first post... talking about the Thrush Welded because that's the one that is like a Flowmaster 40 for half the price.

You just won't know for sure until you try it. There's just a lot of variables including your personal opinion of too much drone.

OP, if you get a Thrush Welded muffler it will be a really nice compliment to your otherwise stock system. It will give a more muscular sound on acceleration, and it will quiet down nicely at cruising speed. Guy at work had a FM on his 04 and I had a Volt on my 05. What I described is exactly how ours were, and we both had a single in dual out muffler with dual tailpipes. So I would think with your single it would be a touch mellower. If you do get drone, it will be with a load on the engine right around the 1800-2200 rpm range. Another guy at work put Thrush's on his 81 Cutlass with a SBC, and it sounded VERY nice! Do it and you will be happy!

edit: The two systems mentioned earlier did have the cats. Remove the cats and things get much louder.
