That's a hell of a deal. Even if it's got some rust and dents, that's a good price...especially if it has a big block.
I'd say go for it.

Just a working plow setup, even if old is worth a grand minimum.
For comparisons sake, I “put together” a beater plow truck 30 years ago. Started with a running but rusted out K5 for $500. New tires $500. Rebuild front driveshaft $100 (parts). Misc other parts, say $200.
Cut a deal to do about $500 worth of contract plowing for my boss, in trade for an old plow setup that needed some work.
All in little under $2k, 30 years ago for a truck/plow that makes this one look like a million bucks, was the best I could do.
Yeah I’d say $1200 is almost a felony for this truck!

I'm going to say 1980 based on the headlight bezels.

Once you have the VIN we can tell for sure.

Since its a sierra Classic, those are 79 headlight bezels. An '80 Sierra classic would have the rectangular headlights with a bit different marker light pattern and side profile. They could have done a V22 delete to retain the round headlights... but V22 was standard on the Sierra Classic and Silverado package, so it would have had to be specially removed to NOT have the rectangular headlights.

Good eye on the bezel vs trim level.

The only thing I would add is that there was no V22 delete. If you got YE9 then you got the uplevel grille.

I'm not sure you could add V22 to the base trim level, but you certainly could get V22 + Z62 (Scottsdale/Sierra). I ordered all my trucks as a Scottsdale, so that I could get the vinyl flooring, manual locks and windows, but opt up to the better looking exterior trim and uplevel grille.

I ordered both my '80 stepper and my '87 fleetside in this way; dad ordered his '75 and his '82 like that.

I only spotted it because I have an '80 Sierra Classic ;)

I accidentally got '79 Bezels to replace a damaged driver side one and only realized they are different after getting them, home and looking at them side by side. I guess I meant a "homemade' V22 delete, as in lots of people prefer the round headlights and swap out the bezels and headlight mounts to make it a roundeye. Obviously not something an original owner is likely to do, but most of these trucks arent in the hands of the original owner anymore anyways. My sierra classic has the manual door locks and windows, but the full trim interior with thick carpet.

Good discussion.
Too bad the OP hasn’t updated….just because. That was/is a damn nice truck for that money!
