This would seem to indicate that you can forget about the cam, pushrod and pump. If the pump will suck out of the bottle, then it is working well enough for now. Someone mentioned earlier that your trans may be a 2nd problem. If it is the original 700R4 then it is one of the weakest 700's ever made.
