    2 post shop lift

Your thread has me noodling the nuances of proper lift installation. As a lift user, I always thought it was laughable how 8 bolts keeps all that potential energy in check, and for the most part it does. My brain goes to a concrete submerged steel matrix that connects with the lift much like...

If you run out of ideas, verify the accuracy of your instrumentation. To eliminate another outlier.

C20 - Trailering vs. Camper Special

Found an example of the front camper mounts on the fenders. My fenders are pristine, which makes me wonder if they got changed at some point.

    STEERING COLUMN

An example of the lower bearing and it's holder not being properly spaced. I ended up tapping the shaft (and the bearing) towards the steering wheel to take up the gap (the shaft has a collapse feature that can get out of adjustment).

    STEERING COLUMN

Picture 1, that is a bearing that loves to get drier than a popcorn fart and make noise. It looks like its riding in its plastic housing good (no excess gap I can see) so it's probably the ball bearings part without lube. Number 67 on the blow ups. Might get lucky with some spray moly, I used...

    STEERING COLUMN

Tilt column has that added feature of having an extra place to get loose and become a general pain in the a$$. It's not uncommon for internal fasteners to work their way loose from all the heating/cooling cycles from the Mesozoic period forward. It will require a bit of effort to remedy, on the...

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

Oiling sounds like a treatment that is best performed with all the wood exposed, dry and clean. Then after assembly, a recoat should be enough to keep the 'internals' protected. But, if that's not an option, go the Binford way - more oil!

C20 - Trailering vs. Camper Special

OK bucket, i hadn't forgot. That's a good eye you have. Notice the hole poked in it for an emissions sniffer. It's just the tailpipe that's original. Which surprises me. But here's where it gets weird going forward. A glasspack Then a patched in piece of Y pipe Then on to the factory...
