For your absorption and contemplation I bring you a rumination of the reverie of burnt cats on toast

You may not like 3 bolt flanges, but they are better than 2 bolts.

    My new acquisition

This is a 1 Tonner! The F350, besides having a higher GVWR, has a longer wheelbase - a 3/4 ton has a 8 foot bed, a 1 tonner has a 9 foot bed, standard cabs of course. Fords are fine, as long as you have the radiator re-cored with a thicker core.

    Cab Mounts

I should have added, "replace all the hardware as well".

It won't hurt idle or improve it either. It might give you a small boost in part-throttle mid-range performance. But it will sound different. I like the sound of 2 separate duals, but some other guys like the sound of duals with an H pipe. I doubt you will consider the effort worth it.

    Black stone oil analysis

6 to 8 OZ in 6 months is considered a leak? I doubt lack of sealant by itself would cause a leak into the oil. What COULD be the problem is one slightly loose head bolt under the valve cover could have a tiny steam leak. Another potential area, if you have a V8 and not a 6, is the water...

    Cab Mounts

They are different, but you can replace them with the 73 - 80 style, as long as you replace ALL of them.

    Optima Batteries worth the cost?

Your best bet are Deep Cycle batteries. The new type batteries may have more total Cold Cranking Amps, but they don't last long, whereas Deep Cycle batteries can crank an engine for quite an extended length of time.

    Optima Batteries worth the cost?

That's is exactly right - they have more total Cold Cranking Amps, but like you said, it doesn't last very long. Deep Cycle batteries are made the old way, and are much better in my book.

They say the H pipe gives a power boost in the midrange, but I like the sound of two separate duals.

    Question about removing belts...

    He was blaming you.

    what cam to use??

You did it correctly then. I wouldn't deal with them again either. You need to select a cam with short duration and wide lobe separation.

    Core Support Mounting

Bolts should tighten all the way, but core support is partly supported by front sheet metal, so it will be movable until that is all back on.

    what cam to use??

Also, you must replace your lifters and cam together, or have your old lifters resurfaced on the bottom, or else they will often ruin the new cam.

    what cam to use??

Not very knowledgeable about cam grinds, but a torque cam is what you need, but with two of those going flat on you, are you sure you are using the right kind of lifter? I know from experience that if you have a steel cam, you can not use iron lifters and vice versa. The lobes will soon go...

    Question about removing belts...

There is no tension pulley on most pre-Serpantine Belt vehicles. You normally pry against that particular accessory, tightening the belt only so that it has about 1/2 inch easy play, NO TIGHTER, OR ELSE YOU CAN RUIN THE ACCESSORY, or your water pump. The Power Steering pump is trickier though...

    new crate 350 start up

If you want to be doubly sure, put distributor in but remove spark plugs, and crank the engine until you have pressure showing on your oil pressure gauge.

    new crate 350 start up

If its 0 degrees, you should be using 10W oil or 5W-20. If that's what you have in there, you will be fine. Just don't rev the engine until it is well warmed up, and even then, not for long periods of time. Is this a brand new/freshly rebuilt engine? If so, I would let it run at a fast idle...

    97 454 L29 Vortec into a 80 K25

EGR really hurts power at part throttle, to getting rid of it is a plus, but I hope you realize that if you eliminate the EVAP, you need to use the old-style VENTED gas caps, or have the tank-to-canister line(s) routed to a safe location, not plugged, or else it will seemingly run out of gas...

    An oil gauge question

Does your truck have the stock wiring harness, or one from a later year? The 78 and later uses a three-wire plug onto the electric oil pressure switch on 6 cylinder models, V8 trucks use just two wires, but the 77s are supposed to have a machanical gauge with that little tube, so this sender...

    Fixing leaks by kick panels

You can get new sealing material from Classic Parts of America and LMC Truck Parts. Does it have a radio? My brother's 81 leaked where the antennae lead came in. Did not realize it was coming from there for a long time. He was going crazy trying to find the leak. I discovered it by...

    gauge cluster mods

Classic Parts of America and LMC Truck Parts both sell printed circuits for instrument clusters with a Tach and gauges, as well as the tach and a small gas gauge that goes where the clock normally would go. It was a factory option when our Squares were new.
